Classic Car Tour to Matlacha, Florida

Join us as we tour our Full-Classic cars from Naples to Matlacha. Where is Matlacha, you ask? This hamlet is near Pine Island, just West of Cape Coral Florida. Members will meet with their antique cars on November 17th at Lowdermilk Park in Naples. From there, we will take the barrier island roads through Bonita Springs and Fort Myers Beach, re-emerging on the mainland at Fort Myers. From there, it’s on to Cape Coral and finally Malatcha. We will converge for lunch and a pleasant tour of this sleep fishing village.

Southern Florida CCCA Annual Meeting

Join fellow Southern Florida CCCA members for the 2012 annual meeting. This year’s meeting will be held on November 3rd on Marco Island. Coordinators are John and Dianne Kernan, who have arranged for us to meet at the Marco Island Yacht Club. In keeping with the theme, members will enjoy a scenic cruise on the Calypso Spirit. We suggest arriving at the club no later than 10:00am so you don’t miss the boat, literally! Upon our return, lunch will be served at the club’s restaurant. After lunch, the annual meeting will begin. As with all club events, we encourage your attendance, as well as that of your Full-Classic car. CCCAAnnualMeetingForm.

Rumors led television personality and noted car collector Jay Leno to a 1931 Duesenberg Model J, which had become something of an urban legend among car enthusiasts. The sedan — the only Model J with a town car body by F.R. Wood and Sons of New York — was built for a department store owner, who locked it away in a parking garage off Park Avenue in New York City in 1931.

Join us for the Southern Florida Region CCCA tour to Mount Dora!

It’s only fitting that Classic Cars visit a classic setting! And in Florida, there is no setting more Classic than Mount Dora. With its quaint downtown, white picket fences, and gently rolling hills, I often think of Mount Dora as a New England Town that visited Florida one winter and decided to stay. Can you picture your Full Classic Packard or Cadillac parked in front of the Lakeside Inn? How about your Pierce-Arrow or Cord driving down some of the old county roads?

Our Classic Car tour to Mount Dora is unstructured, allowing members to pick and choose what they want to do with their time. Follow the link below for a registration form offering more information. Based on the over whelming turnout at our last few events, you’d better sign up soon!

Recap of Everglades City Tour

Sixty degree temperatures didn’t deter Southern Florida Region CCCA members from turning out for this weekend’s Everglades City Tour! Starting at the historic Naples train depot, Mike Dodge and his co-navigater, Roxane Menna, led the convoy of Full Classics from Naples to Everglades City. The 35 mile trek along the Tamiami Trail brought the group through the pine and cypress forests of the Big Cypress Preserve, the swamps of the Everglades, and alongside the mangroves that line the roads into Everglades city. Along the way, dozens of alligators were sited, along with hundreds of birds and other wildlife, but the elusive skunk ape of the Everglades managed to allude us. The first stop was at the historic Ted Smallwood’s Store, where members enjoyed viewing historic artifacts and the tranquil view out to the Ten Thousand Islands. From there, the group went to the Rod and Gun Club for lunch, then on to the Museum of The Everglades to learn about the city’s history. Fun was had by all and we hope to see you on the next Southern Florida Region CCCA tour!
